The area

The domaine is situated in the region of Bouches-du-Rhône.

The landscape is magnificent and diverse - characteristic of the Provencal countryside. You are always close to nature, and yet never really far away from picturesque towns, historic monuments and plenty of excellent art.

Bouches-du-Rhône is often referred to as the original Provence. Bouches-du-Rhône is bounded by the Rhône-delta towards West, by the Durance-river towards North and by the Mediteraneen Sea towards South, while le Massif de la Ste-Beaume forms a border towards the East.

This region consists of flat landscape and hill country, extensive areas of vineyards, knotted olive trees, lavender fields, almond trees and tall, slim cypresses.

It is also here you find the great marsh land at the Rhone delta, known as the Camargue, where you can experience exotic birds, wild horses and bulls, flamingos - and high salt mountains. Le Carmargue completely differs from all other areas in Provence, with its very flat landscape.

Sainte Marie de la Mer on the Mediterranean is said to be the home of Maria Magdalene´s arrival in France. The gypsies´ legendary Black Sara is worshiped here side by side with Maria Magdalene.

Beautiful Saint-Remy is known as the haven of the wealthy and the elegant university town- Cezanne´s hometown and the main city in Provence - Aix-en-Provence, fascinate – here one meet at the legendary Saturday market.

The colourful port of Marseille, known for its bouillabaisse as well as the smaller ports la Ciotat and Cassis are full of wonderful restaurants. The coast along the Mediterranean is broken by the breathtaking Calanques, fjord-like inlets between vertical white cliffs and undisturbed beaches.
