The simple life – French country idyll in beautiful surroundings
French country life in the original Provence, renovated old buildings in classic country style, divided into six apartments and an annex with room for a total of 19 guests. The focus is on comfort and functionality, with simple styling – Scandinavia meets Provence.
We bought Domaine de la Côte d´Or in 2001, a nearly 100-year-old small castle, located with a magnificent panoramic view over the Etang de Berre lake in the beautiful village Miramas le Vieux-with green as far the eye can see.
First, we renovated the main house. With expert help from local craftsmen and the town museum, we have successfully restored the property so that it now appears in the original style.
The house now completes our French setting.
Included with our property are livestock buildings in the distinctive French, sand-coloured stone. These buildings we have, with gentle and respect for the history, converted into the rural apartments.
The indispensable pool is perfectly situated to overlook the lake.
If you like the seawater – the Mediterranean Sea is just a short drive – allow 30-45 minutes.
Evenings can be spent on one of the many terraces, accompanied by cicadas, frogs and nightingales.
The apartments are equipped with full kitchens - we ourselves appreciate cuisine - so the scene has been set for many fine dinners with family and friends.
The property, which is about 100,000 square metres has an olive grove and is also planted with fruit and vegetables, which not least the boars roaming the area finds irresistible, we will also be experimenting with our own wine production.
The Domaine lies between the cities Miramas and Istres at D-16, surrounded by old, reknowned and charming towns like Aix, Arles, Avignon, Salon and Saint-Remy and the colourful melting pot seaport Marseilles, is just 50 km away.
Lots of nature, history and art, beautiful landscapes, exciting experiences and great shopping possibilities - right from local markets to the more sophisticated shopping in Aix and Saint-Remy, or simply strolling in Marseilles.
We look forward to welcoming you in our French paradise!
